Outplay
Play the short videos people send you, with a scrub bar and skip controls. No account, no feed.
Android

Outplay opens the short-video links people send you and plays them with a scrub bar that shows the length and time left, plus skip and speed controls. It doesn’t need an account, and it has no feed or recommendations.
How it works
Tap a supported link in WhatsApp, Messages or another app. Outplay opens the video and starts playing it. When the video ends, it stops and nothing else plays.
Links from Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook Reels and YouTube Shorts are supported. If you have those apps installed, tapping links to open them in Outplay needs a one-time setup (a few taps in Android’s settings, which the home screen walks you through and checks). Until then, share a link to Outplay, or paste it in, and it plays straight away.
Controls
- Play and pause
- A scrub bar showing the current and total time
- Double-tap the left or right side to skip back or forward 10 seconds
- Press and hold to play at 2x speed
- Volume and mute
YouTube Shorts use YouTube’s own player, so double-tap skip and hold-to-fast-forward aren’t available there. The scrub bar, play and pause, and mute are.
Settings
- Turn off Autoplay to have videos open paused, with the length shown first
- Start videos muted
- Hide the controls while playing
- Play every YouTube video in Outplay, not just Shorts
Privacy
Outplay has no account, no analytics and no servers of its own. Its settings are stored on your device. Each video is played by the platform’s own embedded player, which the platform runs under its own privacy policy and which may collect data of its own.
The Google Play version shows one ad on the end screen after a video. It is never shown before or during a video, and the first 7 videos have none. Ads are non-personalised. A one-time purchase removes the ad, and playback and controls are the same for everyone. Other builds show no ads.
Good to know
Some videos can’t be played this way, such as private, age-restricted or removed videos and ones the platform won’t embed. Outplay says so and offers to open the link normally.
